i went with the theme of the last few months and put a bird in her body/outfit. a slight alteration of what ive been doing with the figure... adding an element inside her that is from life.
also i have been more and more interested in large passages of watercolor, so when i composed this i made ample room for a spacey rothko-esque statement.
the birds and the figures i fill with stuff:
the idea started with the thought that humans are sooo complex, beyond our capacity to completely understand. we carry around our histories, biology,emotions, thoughts, spiritual disposition and so on. im trying to capture a feeling or a moment where part of this complexity can be shown.
sometimes i paint a moment of huge realization and or a lazy comfort/relaxation feeling ala' matisse.
the birds i could say the same thing about, they are little packages of who knows what.
putting the two together made sense for me.
the pieces titled break-up are about the moment of feeling total freedom and boundlessness. birds being a symbol of that feeling universally.
a natural leak or a letting go ...
